Experience ‘Imaginary Worlds’ in Atlanta

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is thrilled to announce the eagerly anticipated return of the popular ‘Imaginary Worlds‘ exhibit at the garden. Coming back for an encore after installations in 2013 and 2014 were enthusiastically well-received, the new version features all-new, larger-than-life, living garden sculptures that transport guests to a storybook world of fantasy.

The sculptures, some over 26-feet tall, were fashioned in sections from steel forms and covered in soil and groomed plants. The pieces were then housed inside specially-constructed greenhouses where annuals could flourish during Atlanta’s winter, and shipped and assembled on-site at the Botanical Garden this spring. A carefully hidden irrigation system keeps the plants adorning the sculptures alive.

The new exhibit includes legacy characters (the Earth Goddess, shaggy dog and multiple frogs) as well as many creations made especially for this year’s show. The Midtown garden now features a towering dragon, a sleeping princess, a colorful peacock, and an enormous phoenix, among many other new installations.

Admission to view ‘Imaginary Worlds’ is included in general admission tickets to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and the sculptures will remain installed through October 28th. The exhibits can also be explored during the Garden’s Thursday evening program Cocktails in the Garden for a whole new perspective after dark.
